Principles applicable to the Publisher

As editors, we make every effort to adhere to principles of ethics established in line with the guidelines set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Consequently, our work is guided by such principles as:
  • Research integrity – we follow procedures preventing such malpractices as Ghostwriting and Guest authorship.
“Ghostwriting” consists in failure to indicate the name of the person who contributed to the study, was the actual author or co-author of the paper. “Ghostwriting” also refers to the failure to disclose the role of a person contributing to the paper by including acknowledgements in the publication.
“Guest authorship”  (“honorary authorship”) consists in indication of a specific person’s surname as the author or joint author of an article in spite of the fact that such person’s contribution to the publication was minimal or did not take place at all.
To avoid irregularities and academic dishonesty, the editors of the “Studies and Materials for the History of Saltworks in Poland” kindly ask all the authors to disclose the actual contribution to the preparation of the publication. Simultaneously, we wish to inform you that the author submitting the manuscript bears primary liability in this respect.
If unfair practices are suspected (plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabricated data, undisclosed conflict of interests), the editors may withdraw (refuse to publish) a study or article.
Each instance of violation of the principles of ethics will be documented and communicated to the author’s parent institution.
  • Confidentiality – the editors do not disclose information about submitted studies to unauthorized persons. Authorized persons include only authors, peer reviewers, editors, possibly other people directly involved in the publication process.
  • Impartiality – authors are treated equally, no discrimination is allowed based on scientific degree, affiliation, sex, race, nationality, beliefs, religion or disability. An assessment of contents of a study or article has a conclusive effect on its publication.

The editors have the right to reject a text, if it is demonstrated to its author that research results are untrustworthy or data is fabricated and if the study or article indicates plagiarism or violates the principles of publication ethics.

The accusation of misconduct must be made in writing and contain evidence confirming a breach of the principles of ethics. The notice of withdrawal of a text contains details of the author and the title of study or article with the reason for rejection. If the study or article is already published, the text cannot be withdrawn from a journal but must be clearly marked.
